It's Aloha Friday! As a reminder, Aloha Friday is a blogging tradition that originally started with Kailani over on An Island Life. I ask you a simple question, and you answer! It's a great way to interact with family and friends and to meet new bloggy friends along the way! To participate, just head over to Kailani's blog and follow the instructions. But...you do not have to link up to answer the question!
Today's question is:
Do you go camping as a family? If you so, do you have a tent, tent trailer, or RV/5th wheel trailer?
Today, I'm packing up for our first weekend camping trip of the summer! Last year was our first year to camp - ever - so it was a pretty steep learning curve! We have a nice, big, 3 room tent that has worked really well for our family so far. Throughout the summer last year, I worked on making a master packing list, that I keep on the computer. When it's time to go camping, I just print out a fresh list and cross things off as I pack. We pretty much have everything contained to 4 Rubbermaid tubs, plus the coolers for cold food. The tent, sleeping bags, and mattresses go in the car top carrier we have for skis in the winter. I have all the grocery shopping done, so I don't have to run out for that today. Last year, we had to buy EVERYTHING because it was our first year. Last night, when we pulled everything out of the storage room, it was so nice to already have everything we need! Sara and Sky are so excited! We are going to our favourite spot, about an hour and a half away. There's a lake with a really great beach and huge playground right on the edge of the water! The water is shallow for a long way out, so it's great for small children...and quite warm! We're hoping the nice weather we've had lately holds up for the whole weekend. Now I'm off to bake some muffins and pack up our clothing! I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend!
P.S. You have to check out our favourite camping meal - Daddy's Yummy Campfire Meal. I posted this on the recipe blog I participate in, Recipeasy, last summer. You'll love it - I guarantee it!

Sorry, I've never been camping, and the older I get, the less likely it is that I'll ever go. I'm a city girl !
Not much of a camper, but I would love to take the girls one day. I was a girl scout growing up and I used to love it when I'd go with my girlfriends! Have FUN!
The closest we get to camping is a hotel room without air condition :)
I am ot 1 for bugs there was the 1 trip as a kid to indiana beach we had a camper does that count
Here's another city girl chiming in! I've never gone camping, but I do think that it sounds like fun. Though I don't know what I would do if I say any furry creature or creepy crawlie!! Hope you have a great camping trip!
We haven't gone camping but I've been trying to talk the hubs into trying it out in the backyard first. I think the kids would love it. Great question!!!
We did go camping when our kids were younger a few times - tents, no RVs. When I was in high school, my parents ran a camp for kids along the Platte River in Nebrasak - it was beautiful! I was a counselor there do9ng college one summer and we used to the kids on trail rides with horses and then find a place to set up camp for the night - it was fabulous!
We don't camp as a family. My husband is a university outdoor recreation coordinator so he camps all the time. I used to go on his trips and camp but not since having our son. Andy wants to take our son camping but I don't think he is ready yet. I don't like the idea of being up all night in a tent!
We have never been camping but if we did I'm sure my fam would be down for a little tent camping but I am cabin camping all the way. :)
no, we haven't camped at all. im not really fond of the great outdoors. but i think my husband and my 9 year old son will go this year...
Our family has never been camping but I would love to take them some time soon.
I've never tried camping with my family but I would love to try it someday. I think the last time I went camping was back in high school.
That sounds heavenly. We want to take the kids to Oklahoma this year--they have some really cool places to camp out :) I wish I had your list! We end up buying too much whenever we go because we forgot things we alreayd had :)
We camp in our tent trailer ... and we're looking forward to camping with you guys on our anniversary weekend!!! I was a tent kinda of camper and Bryan was a trailer kinda camper so we compromised and got a tent trailer ... equipped with a toaster and coffee maker!
We usually go camping once a year and we use my inlaws pop-up camper. Although, hubby is talking about going camping WITH the inlaws in Aug and we'll likely have to use a tent, which I don't like to do. We'll see. lol
