It's that time again! I ask a simple question and you answer! The original idea came from An Island Life. If you want to participate, click on the link and follow the instructions!
My question for this week:
Does anyone know what to do with ground turkey? (Not leftover turkey from Thanksgiving- I know what to do with that!) Someone recently gave me a pound of it and I've never used it in that form before! Any good recipe ideas?
If you don't know what to do with the ground turkey, here is your alternate question:
Are you doing anything "Christmas-y" this coming weekend? (ex. decorating, light festivals, visiting Santa, gift shopping, etc.)
We will be very busy, but only one really "Christmas-y" thing! Sunday evening is our kids' Christmas piano recital. Should be fun! I always get more nervous about those than they do! Whatever you happen to be doing, I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your families!

Love ground turkey! I make meatloaf w/ it or tacos or really anything. It absorbs flavors really well.
This Sat is our town's Christmas Parade & the kids will be riding in hot rods plus it is Hubby's Christmas party for work.
I have a little more shopping to do this weekend! NEXT weekend we'll bake cookies and all that good stuff for friends and neighbors!
I have a good recipe for ground turkey soup in the crock pot. I don't have it on me, but I will try to remember to look it up when I get home. It basically consists of dumping the turkey in there (cooked) with a bunch of veggies and some water and it turns out great!
You can make turkey burger, turkey sloppy joes, and turkey taco salads. As other mentioned you can do pretty much anything with ground turkey that ground beef can do, it just tends to be more dry since it is lower in fat.
I use it for taco's
Ok...I think I finally have this figured out...Just in case you think I have disappeared...I haven't...I have tried to leave messages on your last two blogs...but I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong...me and computers don't mix...lol!
On to your question..ground turkey..chili? I have a recipe but have never actually made yet myself..
As for Christmas stuff...Saturday we will decorate the tree...some of house (I hope) and may be even make some stars...wish me luck..I am alone with the boys so this could turn into a fiasco pretty quickly...
have a blessed week-end
Nadine
P.S. Haven't called you as of yet as I too was (still am) sick...but I am on the road to recovery...
We are going to a Christmas Parade tomorrow morning, and then Roger and I have a Christmas party tomorrow evening! I love this time of year!
Our choir at church is doing a Christmas cantata on Sunday. It's a very Christmas-y weekend for us!
you can use ground turkey to do just about anything you would do with ground beef. i've used it for chili, but we love turkey burgers so that's probably our favorite.
this whole weekend will be spent on Christmasy things - parties, rehearsals, etc.
Cook the ground turkey with a little minced onion and garlic. Stuff it in some manicotti noodles and then our Alfredo or a tomato sauce over it. It's delicious!
Christmas-y??? Yes, I'm going to put away the empty Christmas decoration boxes that have been sitting in our hallway and dining room since Monday ...
Ohh I just made turkey meatballs!!! I just mix diced onion, worschershire (oh my word I can't spell today sorry lol) sauce, and and the last time I made it I put a packet of ranch dip mix in.. then I cooked them on the skillet in olive oil then dumped in red sauce ...so yum.. normally I let them cook for a few hours in the crockpot.
Turkey burgers are great. My husband takes great pride in making these lol His secret is two patties put together.. with Cream Cheese in the middle.. IT taste amazing.
We have recently switched over from Ground Beef to all Ground Turkey..and we really love it.
We use it just like we use ground hamburger! It is yummy in spaghetti sauce!
Hey Peggy, in case you didn't get it- ('cuz I was going to tell you the same thing! lol) you can use ground turkey in place of ground beef in just about anything. It does have a slightly different, but not bad taste. But if your family is at all picky like my husband, well, we made turkey sloppy joes. He ate them, but wasn't thrilled. :)
Nothing too Christmasy this w/e for us.
